We're sorry, but this product is not currently available.

A sumptuous nose of bright plum, cherry, rose petal, mulberry and walnut introduces an enticing wine that sets the taste buds firing. The palate is layered and lush, expressing undulating waves of red fruit woven together by a rich mid-palate and vibrant acidity. 7% Cabernet Sauvignon from our volcanic Rim Rock block and our rocky Quartz Hill block were blended in to add depth and structure to the wine. While we often describe our Merlot as a "Cab lover's Merlot," the 2011 demonstrates what makes Merlot so lovely and special as a varietal wine - concentration, smooth but full texture, finesse and that elusive X factor that we think of as "lusciousness." Enjoy!

Wine EnthusiastLeathery on the tongue, this lovely Merlot, with 7% Cabernet Sauvignon blended in, offers inviting notes of plum and cherry, completely juicy, around firm, strong tannins and balances acidity. From two separate, rocky blocks on the winery property, this wine is concentrated and smooth. Enjoy through 2021-2025. Cellar Selection.

VinousThe 2011 Merlot is a little reticent today. Cloves, dark cherries, plums, mint and cloves all take shape in the glass in a medium-bodied wine that is built for near-term enjoyment. There is a lot to like here, but I expect the 2011 to offer its best drinking earlier rather than later.

Wine AdvocateThe 2011 Merlot, a blend of 93% Merlot and 7% Cabernet Sauvignon aged 18 months in 40% new French oak, exhibits soft berry fruit, white chocolate and espresso bean notes along with elegant, medium-bodied flavors. While it does not possess the depth of a great vintage, it performs well displaying excellent purity and ripeness. Drink it over the next 5-6 years.
