The family winery Schmidt is located about 30 km northwest of Vienna in the Weinviertel at the foot of the Niederrußbacher Ölberg mountain range. The microclimate of this area is ideal for the production of authentic wines due to its
south and southwest slopes with forests above. Niederrußbach is located geographically at the beginning of the Weinviertler Hügelland and belongs with its vineyards to the most important wine-growing region of Austria - the Weinviertel.
While our best wines grow on the slopes of the Niederrußbacher Ölberg mountain range, the processing and storage of grapes and wines are built at the foot of the Ölberg. The airy southern slope on mighty loess and clay. Rather a hot location and therefore suitable for the production of the most valuable wines.
Vivid notes of crushed citrus foliage immediately rise from the glass, with aromatic intent. The palate adds juicy, almost playful, notes of ripe mandarin and then bursts with a citrus expression. This is a light, bright, and utterly joyful dry Riesling speaking of all things citrus. The zesty finish makes it irresistible.
