DiamAndes Perlita Malbec Syrah 2018
|Region||Argentina, Mendoza, Alto Vale de Uco|
Perlita by DiamAndes is an original blend of two superb grape varieties: Malbec and Syrah. The typicality of Argentinian Malbec combined with the smoothness of Syrah makes it a very pleasant, full-bodied and rich wine. The palate develops beautiful ripe fruits and very soft, but intense tannins. Silky and velvety, it ends with a nice finish. Perlita by DiamAndes will appeal to fans of wild poultry and grilled meats, white or red.
Robert Parker 89 Points "The 2018 Perlita Malbec Syrah is a fresh and fruit-driven blend of two grapes that I think work well together but are not often used together. In this case, the 80% Malbec and 20% Syrah fermented at a controlled temperature to keep the fruit and matured in used barriques for nine months. It's not ultra complex, but it's clean, balanced and fruit-driven, with a medium-bodied palate, medium ripeness and fine tannins that make it very pleasant and easy to drink."
A Malbec mixed with 20% Syrah from Vista Flores, aged for eight months in used French oak. Bright purple in the glass. The balsamic nose features candied red currant and plum as well as fleshy notes. Intense on the palate, with a compressed character and tannins that provide a rather rigid structure. Generally compact, it releases flavorful red fruit at the end.
