Domaine Barat Chablis Vaillons 2019
A delightful 1er cru made in the classic Chablis manner of seeing no oak and vinified in 100% stainless steel for 12 month. The wine coming from 40yr old vines has a beautiful white flowery nose, with some tropical notes to marry its mineral briny consistency. A delicious wine that should retain its vibrancy for 5-7 years. The Vaillons comes from 50- to 60-year-old vines grown on the classic Chablis Kimmeridgian soils, which contain fossilized marine organisms and other elements crucial for developing complexity and longevity in Chardonnay. Left bank Premier Cru Chablis typically shows a very elegant profile and offers an outstanding price-to-value ratio.
Domaine Barat dates back to 1795 and has a reputation for producing some of the most compelling, absolutely brilliant Chablis. Fortunately, for us, they do so at a wonderfully realistic price.
