Rocca Giovanni's winery is on 22 hectares of vineyards in Monforte d'Alba, Piedmont. The small village is one of the eleven communes of Barolo, known for its beautiful landscape and excellent wines. The Rocca family has cultivated their estate for three generations with dedication, passion, and authenticity.
Over the years the family transitioned from grape growers to producers. The patriarch Giovanni manages the winery with his wife Caterina and the help of oenologist Piero Ballario. Joined by their daughter Federica and son Maurizio the winery now produces about 80,000 bottles. Thanks to the vineyard position (southeast), the successful exposure of the vineyards, and the favorable microclimate of the Langhe; each harvest allows the winery to produce consistently excellent results.
Barolo Ravera is the expression of one of the most important Cru in Monforte, a guarantee of fine aromas, sapid flavor, and great complexity. The mainly calcareous soil of this historical vineyard adds elegance and structure to the wine, making it ideal for aging. Manual harvesting, destemming, soft pressing, and skin maceration for 10 days under controlled temperature. Refined in barriques (French oak) for 12 months and then in Slovenian oak barrels for 18 months followed by 6-8 months in bottle.
Winemaker Notes "A classic expression of the Piedmont’s noble Nebbiolo grape. It is fragrant, medium-bodied, garnet-colored, and full of cherry and raspberry flavors. It shows complex cinnamon and field herbs layers that lead to a long and harmonious finish."

A mix of cherry, plum, rosemary, and tar flavors mingle in this tough, dense red. Sanguine and iron notes enter the midpalate and this ends in a dense wall of tannins.

Dusted plums, cranberries, bark, dried herbs, and rust on the nose. Sinewy and tight on the palate with a typical Barolo structure that will need time to resolve. Juicy, spiced cherries and oranges in the finish.
