The 2019 Malmaison, from Moulis-en-Médoc, has a tightly knit and certainly very concentrated bouquet with plenty of blackberry and bilberry fruit. This sample requires time in the glass that fortunately I could afford, mellowing for 5-10 minutes. The aromatics certainly want to make an impression. The palate is showing great promise, quite Pauillac-like in style with firm backbone, strict tannins, a vibrant line of acidity and impression of precision towards the finish. I envisage this closing down for a few years before finding its groove. There is a lot of energy locked into this nascent wine, but the focus and vigour on the finish leaves me feeling this is going to please a lot of people with the nous to cellar several years. Tasted twice.
