The 2018 Montefalco Sagrantino is youthfully poised, opening slowly in the glass to notes of lavender, plum, crushed rocks and a hint of tangerine. It’s silky-smooth and deeply textural, casting fleshy waves of ripe blackberries and exotic spices across the palate, and a classically austere coating of fine tannin saturates toward the close. This is massively structured, as a young Sagrantino should be, and persistent, tapering off with tart wild berries, licorice and a bitter twang of dark chocolate. Very nice.

Pleasant, ripe cherries and berries on the nose, following through to a full, silky palate with lots of sweet fruit and a touch of lightly bitter wood on the finish. Nice, easygoing sagrantino. From organically grown grapes. Drink now.
