This wine commemorates Ilaria Tachis’ father, Giacomo Tachis (Tignanello & Sassicaia was created at the hand of Giacomo Tachis), who contributed untold and immeasurable wisdom and experience to the Italian wine sector during a career that spanned over 50 years and reached virtually every region in Italy. Ilaria chose the grapes that would be used to make this wine, a love song for her babbo, a great man who shared so much of himself with winemakers all over the country. Wine is made from 100% Merlot grapes, carefully hand-selected from our Merlot vineyards. The vines are currently on average 15 years old and producing at their best. The simplicity of this wine is elegant and distinctive. With grapes carefully cultivated in the Chianti Classico area of Tuscany, the wine reveals particularly Mediterranean organoleptic characteristics.
Robert Parker's Wine Advocate 90 Points:
Brilliant ruby in color, with a luxurious range of perfume covering sweet wild berries, mandarin oranges, forest floor and mint, rhubarb and baking spices, with a seductive mineral spine. Silky soft tannins, a balance of sapid and acidic notes, and a heavenly long finish.
