Résonance Vineyards Hyland Vineyard Chardonnay 2017
|Region||United States, Oregon, Yamhill County|
Pale gold. Mineral- and smoke-tinged pear and white peach aromas pick up floral and lemon pith nuances with air. Juicy and focused on the palate, showing very good tension and cut to the Anjou pear, peach pit and Meyer lemon flavors. A subtle iodine note appears on the impressively long, tight finish, which leaves a bitter pear skin not behind. 20% new French oak.
Quite well made, though not as concentrated as the previous vintage, this is a tangy, tightly wound wine. The fruit mix leans toward white and yellow tree fruits. On the palate the impression is also a bit lean, but balanced. Aged 17 months in one-quarter new French oak (and one concrete egg), it finishes with a lick of butter.
