Pierre Aiguille is the name of an eroded mountain slope overlooking where these vineyards are located. Set on east-facing terraces, sheltered beneath the jagged rock outcropping known as Dentelles de Montmirail, these 40+-year-old vines perfectly showcase the potential of Gigondas as a potential equal of Châteauneuf-du-Pape. This is grenache at its highest level, with 10% each syrah and mourvèdre in classic supporting roles.

Deep and smoky notes of streaky bacon, with black and red berries ranging from black currant to red raspberry and cherry, with warm notes of fig paste, black pepper, and roasted Herbs de Provence. This is ripe, chewy, and balanced, with finishing notes of orange peel and licorice extending the length – just a fantastic wine from a noble house that will directly compete with many top-flight Châteauneuf du Papes.
