Wine Advocate 92 Points "The balsamic and spicy 2014 Pangea Apalta Vineyard Syrah follows the evolution toward more freshness and less evident oak, something I noticed in 2013. 2014 was a warm and ripe year, and the wine reflects it, even if it’s not alcoholic or overripe. The palate is powerful, with plenty of tannins, but still a bit hard with an astringent finish. 20,000 bottles were filled in February 2016. The élevage was in 50/50 new and second-use oak barrels for 22 months. I’m looking forward to more recent vintages when they are using oak foudres."
Pangea is a well-rounded, distinguished wine with an intense, dark color. It has delicious, complex aromas that come through in the mouth with soft notes of red and blueberries, harmoniously intermingled with spices like black pepper, dark chocolate, and subtle notes of vanilla and caramel. This wine has an exceptional combination of concentration, flavors, and aromas. Pangea is a Syrah from the Apalta Valley that faithfully expresses its terroir of granitic soils with high quartz content, which is reflected in every glass. This is a well-structured wine with plenty of acidity and ripe, firm tannins. We recommend decanting it prior to drinking.

One of a number of wines in the Ventisquero range that uses the talents of Australian legend, John Duval, this is a bold, firm slightly serious Syrah with layers of tannin and minerality. The fruit needs time to emerge. 2019-26.

Dark berry and hot stone. Some black tea, too. Full body, layered and flavorful. Focused and precise. No nonsense here! Drink or age.
